Staying Home

I am working very hard today on a particular aspect of my life as a Stay at Home Mom... yep, staying home. You see, when we bought our new van, I had this thought that I was considering doing without a vehicle for awhile (except my whole family can never go anywhere at once if our vehicles is a 5 passenger truck). So when we did purchase another vehicle, I still had the thought that I didn't HAVE to drive it just 'cuz I had it. I even planned my church presidency meeting on the same day as the kids school concert, errand day.

Then Tuesday Melissa asked me to go to Portland and Christmas shop with her. I haven't seen her in ages it feels, and I just couldn't say no. Ok, I said no, but the I just HAD to change my mind in less than a minute because it was WRONG!

Then Nicki hinted Wednesday about needing to do Daniel's 18 month pictures even though he was now over 20 months old. And how could I justify shopping with one friend in dire need and not the other? Nicki has a compulsion when it comes to pictures, and she has always needed SOMEONE, usually me, sometimes her mom, to go with her, or else she might never make a decision and come home. As it is we are there a couple of hours anyway. In her defense, I'm the same way, so she comes with me, I just haven't gone QUITE as often. We really do have a frightening amount in common. So off I went to Auburn.

Thursday was the afore mentioned Errand Day. But I forgot my pictures at Walmart...

And I wanted to make cookies today, arguably a gingerbread house type thing, but don't have enough butter...

And I still haven't taken that check to the bank...

This stay home thing is harder than you think people.

So, here's a question for you. People (more than one even) have told me I should write a book. I would love to write a book, I think it's a fabulous idea. But what should I write about?

PS. Sarah, please don't ask me to shop with you, I'm not sure I could resist the need to go to Texas!!

Maybe we could meet half way and that wouldn't be so bad. LOL! It has been a bit chilly here in the low to mid 30's this week. So it wouldn't be much of a temp change. You should come visit sometime.

If you're a sucess at staying home . . . tell you the details of the plan. I am the worse. I sometimes try to think of every trip in terms of gas money to see if that encourages me to stay home. It works for about a day and a 1/2. Plus with 4 kids, I'm sure it's truely impossible! New cars are always fun!
